Attempt to touch a moment and it will laugh and flit away from you, serenely unbothered. You cannot restrain time’s motion, nor should you wish to. No. For to be continually displaced in time, when embraced with all the gusto genuine gratitude can afford, shakes you from stagnancy and shouts (and whispers), “New fresh hope and chances to make choices wiser, more gracious, more somber, more free! New!” So you see, you should laugh with the moment as it goes. Begrudging its passing will embitter you, and there is no living joy to be had with bitterness. Grief for moments lost or unhad is honest and worth the passing moments it takes, with all due numbness and aches, but even grief cannot fetter time.
